Evidence at the summit

25 01 2010

Here’s a picture to evidence both Danny and I actually made it to the summit. (two pictures)

Heading Home

23 01 2010

Two flights down and for most, two flights to go.  Steve O and the Doc have three more!  Can’t wait to get home now.

A huge thank you to all involved in supporting us on this fabulous journey.

The Last Supper

22 01 2010

Been there, done that, now lets eat, drink and relax.  Photos of the group here

Ohhh Yes!

22 01 2010

Ohhh, beds, shower, TV, life don’t get much better.

Well we did it, and we both agree that it was the most difficult physical and mental thing we have ever done.  There is more info to come about that but for now we are just going to chillax.  See pics here

Awaiting the Awakening

21 01 2010

Hi All,

While we wait for Danny, Dave and the rest of the group to sleep – and hopefully wake up and tell us more about their journey, could I ask you to spare a minute to help us evaluate how successfull this blog has been.

There is a very short survey on the right hand side of the page, click it and tell us what you thought of it:  if you have used a blog before, and if you are now more likely to use one again.

Thanks in advance.

On the way downhill

21 01 2010

Well I’ll tell you that I thought my heart and lungs were going to burst for the last 4 hours.  After Steller point I went back to get something I said I would put there and walked to summit with the last two who were still at Steller.  Now heading for camp – exhausted but exhilarated.  Best wishes sent from all the group to all who are following x

Almost Day 6 – The Summit is in sight

20 01 2010

Woken up for dinner – though we haven’t really slept much – I think Dave’s having side effects from the lentils.  Very bad headaches also.  They split us into two groups, one left at 11pm one at 12pm (we’re in the fast group) – and aim to meet up on the final push to the summit.  It’s freezing!

End of day 5

20 01 2010

We’ve reached our final camp.  Pitched the tent on a 45 degree angle in the freezing cold/ice – Noodle and veg soup – toasted cheese and salad sandwiches.  Lovely

Day 5

20 01 2010

Hi All,  we had rice and lentils for dinner last night – rather heavy, put us all to sleep.  View in front of the tent this morning is through clouds across all of Africa.  behind is the summit.  Danny maintaining standards and applying posh deo to make camp smell better.  Last nights sleep for two days we’re aiming for base camp today.  Bit of a rest then on to summit tonight/early morning tomorrow.

End of Day 4

19 01 2010

Ok so lowdown on the day.  Everyone is doing great; not sleeping well, filthy dirty, severe headaches, short of breath, muscles hurting, but apart from that we’re all doing great.  Nearly there – even though when you look at the mountain it seems miles away.  Lots more pics to look at – everything is so beautiful – hopefully the imges will do the talking.
